Former Chelsea forward Timo Werner to fly to London to finalize loan to Tottenham. By mutual agreement, Spurs and RB Leipzig will retain the 27-year-old until the conclusion of the current campaign. Spurs will pay the entirety of the forward's salary, with the option to purchase him at the conclusion of the current campaign.

Discussions are reportedly ongoing, according to a number of media outlets, including the majority of UK newspapers and The Athletic. Leipzig even tweeted that Werner was absent from the club's lineup while negotiating with another club.

On Sunday, Timo Werner of RB Leipzig will depart for London. Werner is of the opinion that a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur would enhance his prospects of qualifying for the Euros with the German national team this summer.

According to Sky Germany, the definitive signing fee for Werner at the conclusion of the current season is £15.5 million, with Spurs spending £4.3 million on his wages.

The former Chelsea player was reportedly offered to Manchester Unitedduring the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports News earlier this week. However, it now appears that he will return to London this month.

Due to his participation in the Asia Cup, Ange Postecoglou's squad will be without club captain Heung-Min Son for at least one month, and Alejo Veliz is feared to have sustained a long-term knee injury.

This season, Werner has made eight appearances for Leipzig in the Bundesliga, accumulating two goals. His contractual obligations persist until the summer of 2026.

On Saturday, Leipzigconfirmed via their official social media channels that the Germany international has been left out of their friendly against St. Gallen of the Swiss Super League while he negotiates with another club.

Werner gained Premier League experience in 2020 when he joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig for £45 million. In 89 appearances for Chelsea, the German tallied 23 goals before returning to Leipzig in 2022.

He has scored two goals in fourteen appearances for the Bundesliga club this season. On Saturday, the club disclosed that transfer discussions prevented his participation in their friendly against St. Gallen.

Nevertheless, his tenure at Stamford Bridge was predominantly unsatisfactory, as he scored a mere ten goals in fifty-six Premier League matches prior to his return to his former club in 2022. Since then, Leipzig manager Marco Rose has verified that the forward will soon relocate to north London.

Werner, who has struggled with injuries throughout the current campaign, is one of the established playerscaught up in a club undergoing a generational transition. Both parties could benefit from a six-month loan, contingent on Werner remaining robust, self-assured, and in top form. If any one of these three elements is absent from Werner's strategy, it is highly unlikely that the arrangement will succeed.

Final Words

Spurs have reached a mutual agreement to acquire Timo Werner from RB Leipzig on loan for the upcoming season, with the option to convert the agreement permanent. For his medical examination, the forward will fly to London, and Spurs will pay his compensation for the remainder of the season.

RB Leipzig is simultaneously undergoing a squad transition and competing for the Bundesliga championship alongside Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich. It is remarkable that the club has produced such impressive results thus far this season.
