Meet Paqui Kelly: Brian Kelly’s Wife And Cancer Survivor

Brian Kelly's wife, Paqui Kelly, has an inspiring story, not just for being the spouse of a renowned footballcoach but for her resilience as a two-time breast cancer survivor. Born as Francisca Barbara Craig on February 9, 1966, Paqui is of Spanish descent. She met Brian while he was coaching at Grand Valley State University, and they married in 1994. The couple shares three children: Patrick, Kenzel, and Grace, each of whom has been involved in athletics and academics, taking after their parents in their commitment to excellence.

Paqui's journey with breast cancer began in 2003, when she was first diagnosed after a routine check-up. Despite leading a healthy lifestyle, her diagnosis came as a shock, especially since there was no known family history of cancer at the time. She underwent treatment and was declared cancer-free in 2006, only to face a second, more aggressive diagnosis later that year. Paqui fought through chemotherapy and surgeries again, eventually triumphing over the disease for the second time.

Her battles with cancer led Paqui and Brian to establish the Kelly Cares Foundationin 2008. The foundation focuses on health, education, and community support, with a significant emphasis on cancer awareness and early detection. To date, the foundation has raised millions of dollars, supporting various causes related to cancer research and general health initiatives. Even after the family's move from Notre Dame to Louisiana, the foundation remains active and continues to grow in its impact.

In February 2023, rumors surfaced about Brian Kelly filing for divorce, but the couple reconciled shortly after, and the reports were dismissed. Today, Paqui remains deeply involved in philanthropic work through their foundation, while continuing to support her husband’s coaching career at LSU.
