Who Is Brittney Griner's Wife?
First Wife: Glory Johnson
Brittney Griner has been married twice. Brittney Griner's first wife was Glory Johnson, a fellow WNBA player. The two got engaged in August 2014 and married on May 8, 2015, despite a troubling domestic violence incident that occurred a month prior. Both were arrested after a fight at their home in Phoenix, Arizona, and were suspended by the WNBA for seven games as a result of this altercation.
Soon after their marriage, the couple announced that Glory was pregnant with twins through in vitro fertilization (IVF). However, the marriage was short-lived, as Brittney filed for an annulment just one month later, citing reasons such as fraud and duress. The annulment was denied, and the divorce was finalized in June 2016. Brittney was ordered to pay child support for the twins, who were born prematurely in October 2015.
Second Wife: Cherelle Griner
Brittney Griner’s second and current wife is Cherelle Griner (formerly Cherelle Watson). They met while both were students at Baylor University. After dating for a few years, Brittney proposed in August 2018, and they married on June 18, 2019. Cherelle later took Brittney's last name.
Cherelle is a lawyer, having graduated from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2022. She played a vital role in advocating for Brittney’s release during her 2022 detainment in Russia. In 2024, the couple announced that Cherelle was pregnant, and they welcomed their first child, a son named Bash, in July 2024.
